Experience behind the work

IT expertise.
Manufacturing perspective.

Justin brings over 15 years of inline thermoforming experience and his role as a Senior Process Engineer at a plastics manufacturing company to his work at BizHostNC. His experience spans continuous production lines that extrude sheet and form parts inline, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. That background connects hands-on IT knowledge with a practical understanding of manufacturing processes and the systems used on the production floor.

Modernizing HMI workstations.
Reducing hardware costs.

For a well-known plastics manufacturing company in Charlotte, BizHostNC modernized HMI workstations with Windows 11 upgrades and lower-cost Dell OptiPlex 7050 systems in place of expensive OEM HMI computers.

The challenge

Replacing HMI computers through the original equipment manufacturer carried a high hardware cost. The customer needed a practical modernization approach for its manufacturing environment.

What we delivered

  • HMI workstation modernization and Windows 11 upgrades.
  • Dell OptiPlex 7050 systems as lower-cost replacements for OEM HMI PCs.
  • A backup plan covering HMI, PLC, and engineering PCs to support recovery planning.

Connecting machinery with FactoryTalk Optix

We’re now implementing an industrial IoT system across this customer’s Allen-Bradley PLC-driven machinery, using FactoryTalk Optix to bring machine data together for centralized visualization. This phase is underway; deployment and its outcomes are not presented as complete.

02 / MANUFACTURING RELIABILITY

A graceful shutdown.
A recurring problem resolved.

For another manufacturing company, BizHostNC installed HMI computers and addressed abrupt power loss that was repeatedly corrupting drives. The HMI PCs previously lost power immediately when machine power was isolated.

The challenge

The HMI computers lacked UPS battery protection. Immediate power cuts prevented an orderly operating-system shutdown and were followed by frequent drive corruption.

What we delivered

  • Installation of HMI computers.
  • UPS systems sized for the HMI PC loads.
  • Battery-backed power and graceful PC shutdown when supply power is removed.

Machine data.
A history you can see.

BizHostNC designed and deployed a custom historian system for another factory’s HMI, connecting through an OPC UA client, storing historical readings in InfluxDB, and visualizing trends in Grafana.

The solution

  • An OPC UA client connects the HMI data to the historian system.
  • InfluxDB stores time-series readings for historical reference.
  • Grafana presents the data through dashboards and trend visualizations.

Large residential property · Homeowner name withheld

One property.
A connection that reaches further.

BizHostNC completed a WiFi and network improvement project for a large home with a pool and a pool house approximately 400 feet from the main house.

The challenge

The project called for improved WiFi in a large home and a network connection to a separate pool house, with considerable distance between the buildings.

What we installed

  • A UniFi WiFi system in the main home.
  • A UniFi point-to-point system for the pool house connection.

The installation brings the home and outbuilding into the property’s network.
